PHUSICOS was invited to participate in the Green Risk 4 Alps workshop that took place in Bolzano, Italy, June 12th-13th, 2019. The first day of the workshop included presentations and discussions, followed by the second day that included a field trip to landslide sites in South Tyrol. Bjørn Kalsnes presented the PHUSICOS project, which received a lot of interest due to the overall similarity with regards to use of vegetation for landslide protection and stakeholder involvement.

Green Risk 4 Alps is an InterReg project under the Alpine Space programme, which is a European transnational cooperation programme for the Alpine region. It is a 3 year project ending in 2021. The project will establish, test and implement new forestry and eco-system based management in the Alpine region. They have established six Pilot Action Regions in five Alp countries dealing with natural hazards such as rock fall, avalanches, torrents and debris flows. The project is coordinated by Austrian Research Center for Forests, BFW, in Innsbruck, Austria.
